The new ezine for UK online marketing best practice
The Marketing Karma online marketing ezine is produced by Sam McArthur and was founded with Robin Houghton. Robin and Sam met when they both worked at an online marketing agency during the dotcom boom years. In 2002 Sam set up her
online marketing consultancy Forty First, specialising in increasing the visibility of websites
through search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising and
strategic links. Sam has worked in client facing roles for over ten years, handling many accounts from blue-chip companies and the MoD to SMEs. With a degree in European Studies and a speaker of fluent French, Sam also offers her services to clients looking to enter the French market.
In 2006, Forty First gained status as a Google Adwords Qualified
Individual. Robin Houghton Communications was launched in early 2002. Robin's background includes ten years' experience in corporate product marketing and marketing communications. Combining this with her long-standing knowledge of the internet, and with an MA in Digital Media, Robin is now a consultant to small business. An email marketing specialist, her clients include retailers, restaurants, furniture designers and schools. Sam and Robin founded Marketing Karma in September 2003. As Robin explains:
'There are already plenty of marketing e-newsletters out there (we should know, we've probably subscribed to all of them at some time or another!) In the scramble for marketers to understand and make the most of the internet, something seems to have got lost.
Marketing Karma is an attempt to draw attention to a basic fact: that respectful and 'best practice' is really the future of the industry - it's where the real commercial success will be enjoyed. When internet marketing gets its sense of karma back, perhaps more of us will be proud call ourselves internet marketers.'
